This I have to say was my favorite part of the project. I pulled out my beloved stash of vintage buttons. It was hard to pick the best and most suitable one. I ended up picking the simple black button with a rhinestone. It did take me a while to choose though.

Calorimetry
I finished this quicky project last night. This cute liltte ribbed - bonnet like thingy was a fun knit. I wore it all day today. (made with Jo Sharp Tweed DK)

I'm not worthy...I'm not worthy...
I was really lucky to be at the right place at the right time last Saturday morning. I was up bright and early for the First Unitarian Church's World Class Rummage Sale. It was an event too. I was third in line at 10:30 waiting eagerly for the doors of the church to open. They opened the sale 11:OO. I stumbled onto this great stash of yarn about 1-2 minutes later. There were a couple of plastic bags stuffed with this lovely shetland yarn, full skeins too. I'm wondering what to do with this nice yarn I have. Maybe mittens, maybe a sweater. The grey is quite handsome, I could combine it with some colors of Jamison Shetland like a chocolate brown and blue-green. Oh the possibilities...

Stand by...this is only a test!
This morning I learned to Fair Isle using two hands. At first it was kinda painful on the left hand. After a while I learned how to carry the yarn that felt natural. So, I started this one by one project. It's actually really cute. The colors give it a vintage feel. Kinda preppy but in that anti-preppy-preppy way. Wink. Now decreasing, that will be the trick.
I'll keep you posted.

Perfect Friday Night!
I've had bad luck in the recent past regarding making tea. I either make it so bitter that my taste buds curdle or I make it so light that it tastes like boiling water with a hint of tea. Oh, but last night things changed. Wow!
What a difference a timer makes. I gave it a five minute steep and it was delicious. I had a not so sweet cookie and the new Interweave Knits Spring Magazine. Can a Friday night get any better?

New Koigu Hat
I took this picture at my parents house. It is my fifth Purl Beret resting on the remains of my favorite tree. I thought the texture of the tree stump was really interesting. The colors in this particular skein of koigu are organic. There are hints of rust, turquoise, gray and naples yellow. I used Reynold's Soft Sea Wool for the brim. I think I'm going to keep this one. Seriously.

Old Dog's New Tricks!
This is my Dad desperately trying to knit the first stitch of the row. The hat I'm making is using koigu (fingering weight) on a US #3, as you can imagine no small feat for a person who's closest experience with knitting
is changing a set of spark plugs. Luckily the novelty of his suffering wore out to the smell of Mom's french toast. I'm not through with him though, this is pay back for the many, many times I spent a good Saturday morning under a leaky faucet holding the flashlight. Cheers Dad!
